Animations

Below are animations I have created including a little more in detail about them. Audio is included.

Invisible To The Eye

Invisible to the eye is my very first time ever creating an actual short film. I created as my second year project.

This is based on my own personal experience as I am registered blind and have been from a young age it is all I have ever known. Growing up hasn't been to easy for me as being different can be hard, I wanted to show this as much as I could in this short film.

It starts with a Lilac monster (representing me) that has two eyes going into the hospital, having some tests done then coming out grey and with only one eye ( to show visual impairment) a cane and upset. Heading into education ( school, college, university) while other monsters (peers) stare and point. The grey monster walking into the classroom bumping into the table and sat alone feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Sees a application for a job at a cinema, sending of the application to the cinema to then receiving a job offer. As the monster heads for the interview one of the unkind monsters from college push the grey monster over and walk away laughing, a cinema host comes out helping the grey monster up and goes inside.

The grey monster walks in to a group of cinema hosts waving saying Hi being kind, feeling warmth, happiness and wanted the grey monster turns into a beautiful Lilac colour showing that the monster has found where it belongs and that no one is the same, by being different you should embrace that.

As my first short film I am proud of what I have made, I also leant quite a lot on the journey and the process from first coming up with the idea to actual tsking each picture.

Woodland Creature

This animation is a 30 second piece of a woodland creature called Arbour the Amanita (Amanita is a type of mushroom) This piece is the creation of arbour and what was used to create it. Using the stems of mushrooms for the legs and neck, wood logs and tree vines for the body and a toad stool for the head.

I really enjoyed creating this as nature is something I find beautiful and tranquil with the variety of textures, smells and sounds.

Lego Animation

This is a short piece of animation I did using Lego, as I am a huge Lego fan and passionate and fascinated about animation I wanted to have a go at putting the two together and create something.

The animation is about using the core principals of animation but with Lego and starts with stretch, squash, ease in and out, staging, anticipation, follow through, Straight ahead and pose to pose, arcs, timing, exaggeration and appeal using different Lego pieces.

Towards the end I created a short story of a robot in pieces and coming together to then a tiny duck comes towards the robot and starts to transform into a much bigger duck scaring off the robot and falling dawn, but then the duck helps the robot up and they end up becoming friends.

I wanted this piece to feel fun as I had lots of fun creating it and it helped me understand the core principals much more,

Side Project

A short 15 second piece I created in my spare time. I plan on keep re-making this piece to improve some small details but to also keep practicing my stop-motion animation.

This animation is a mixture of ideas I had that I wanted to try out on my Sticky Bones armature.

It involves:

A dance move (arm wave) a fluid rippling motion.

A crunch down to attempt a jump which fails.

Head turning bone cracking segment

Then a bit of magic with two small friends a Chameleon and a Monkey

Finally ending with a bow
